Tongue Exercises to Help You Stop Snoring

Snoring is a condition that can keep a person and anyone sleeping nearby awake at night. There are a few remedies for people who snore, both natural and chemical. Sometimes a person can even stop snoring without spending a lot of money. These solutions take will power and some concentration, but they do work and the snorer and his family will be able to enjoy a good night's sleep once again.

Tongue and Facial Stretches

These stretches might be funny to watch, but they can offer great relief for a snorer. You can do these exercises numerous times throughout the day.

For the first stretch, stick your tongue out as far as you can. Hold this position for a few seconds before relaxing your tongue again. Next, stick out your tongue and try to touch your chin with the tip of it. Then try to touch your nose. You should repeat these three exercises ten times over.

For the next tongue stretch, hold the spoon straight across from your tongue and try to push the spoon away by extending your tongue. Relax for tongue for a little while; then stick it out and take it back in repeatedly as fast as you can.

Tongue and Lip Exercises

Open your mouth in a wide circle, and trace your tongue around your lips. Maintain contact at all times while you are doing this, even if it is slow at first. Repeat this several times.

Another exercise creates a bit of sound. While keeping your mouth closed tightly, make loud slurping noises without sipping any liquid first. Your lips might feel different than normal if you do too many of these exercises; you can quit when your lips start to tingle.

Vocal Techniques

These exercises that include the tongue and your voice can be fun and entertaining. Start by simply opening and closing your mouth while using your vocal chords. You will end up with something sounding like a repeated "ma-ma." Then you need to start saying sounds of notes in the '"la-la" form.

Make the latter sounds as fast as possible but with as much accuracy in pronunciation as you can. Then follow by a "ka-ka" sound, then a "ka-la" sound. Do these in order, repeating them several times while maintaining speed and accuracy. Follow by gargling with warm water as loud as possible. After doing these stretches for some time, you will notice a decreased amount and loudness of snoring.
