Pinworms Anti-itch Remedy

Pinworms are intestinal parasites that reproduce in the large intestine. Each female pinworm is capable of laying 15,000 eggs. Most people don't want to talk about this parasite if they are having trouble, and they really don't want to exhibit any of the symptoms. The truth is, however, that having pinworms can be a serious problem that can easily be spread to others. Because of this, it is important to eliminate the parasites, not just in the person who is displaying symptoms, but in everyone in the household who comes in contact with the affected person.

Increase Your Fiber Intake

Dietary fiber works to increase mucus in the digestive tract, making it less likely that pinworms will be able to get a grip on the intestinal walls. All beans and whole grains are food sources that are very high in dietary fiber. Breakfast cereals made of oats and bran also have sufficiently high doses of dietary fiber.

An increase in fiber can be accompanied by consuming more garlic also. Garlic has antifungal and antibacterial properties that help to get rid of pinworms.

Home Treatment

Whether you are dealing with pinworms in your children, in yourself or in both, using a natural remedy is a gentle way to give your system a cleansing and remove these itch-causing parasites that spread easily from one person to the next and that can remain alive for several days without a human host.

Licorice root, marshmallow, wormwood and agrimony all provide a soothing supportive effort to the digestive tract. If these remedies fail to solve the problem, it may be necessary to ask your doctor for a prescription medication. Albendazole (Albenza) and Pyrantel (Pin-X) are the two most commonly prescribed medications for treating pinworms.

Clean It Up

As clich as it may sound, practicing ultimate cleanliness is a very vital key to getting rid of the itch and the actual pinworms themselves. All bedding, linens, towels, clothing, stuffed animals and, basically, everything and everywhere in the house must be cleaned and treated as though it has been infected with pinworms.

Keep hand sanitizer around and encourage everyone to use it often. Pumpkin seeds, papaya and garlic are fatal to pinworms, so try to consume these with serious intention. Avoid refined sugar and too many starches as they provide a breeding ground for pinworms. Looking for an emergency solution? Try inserting a whole clove of raw peeled garlic into the anus at night to zap itching and stun pinworms.
