Sitz Bath Water Recipe

Sitz Bath Water Recipe

A sitz bath relieves pain when a person soaks the sore area in the warm water solution. Learning how to create a sitz bath at home allows privacy, and they are often recommended for the elderly or for new mothers. Consult your doctor before using any home remedies.

Instructions

    1

Use sitz baths for hemorrhoid relief, after childbirth or if suffering from a bladder infection, advises HeartlandDocs.com. Soak for at least ten minutes, between two and three times a day or as often as your doctor recommends.

    2

Purchase a sitz bath bowl at a pharmacy or fill your tub with warm water. A sitz bowl is a plastic container that is placed on the rim of the toilet under the seat and gives you a continuous flow of warm water. The water should not be too hot or it may make your sore bottom hurt more. Clean water should be used each time you preform a sitz bath.

    3

Put about one cup of sea salt into the tub water. The sea salt will dissolve and help your healing process by washing the uncomfortable areas and keeping them clean.

    4

Add three drops of rose geranium, two drops of blue chamomile, two drops of lavender essential oil and one drop of rose oil to the tub water, advises the Lite Green Living website. These herbs will help to relax your body as you sit in the bathtub. If you are allergic to any of these ingredients, do not use them and consult your doctor for alternatives.
