    Glucosamine is a natural healing supplement and pain reliever. Taken orally, glucosamine can provide the same anti-inflammatory benefits as drugs but without the side effects. In addition to providing relief from inflammation and pain, glucosamine helps heal painful bone spurs and aids in the repair of damaged joints, according to Myztique.com. Natural glucosamine is found in shellfish and is available in manufactured forms as well. According to WebMD.com, synthetic glucosamine has been found to be as effective as natural sources of the supplement. Synthetic supplements include glucosamine hydrochloride, glucosamine sulfate and N acetyl-glucosamine, which is glucosamine combined with minerals and salts.     A natural calcium supplement combined with a healthy diet of green vegetables may help relieve bone spurs. When the body is deficient in calcium, it will be taken from the bones. Drinking a tea made from alfalfa three or four times each day or taking an over-the-counter alfalfa herbal supplement may help relieve painful bone spurs.
