Colloidal Silver
To produce colloidal silver, an electric current passes through pure silver, which is then immersed in distilled water. Particles in the water are charged by the silver to form a liquid suspension called colloidal silver. The silver is invisible under normal vision. It is the electrical charge in the silver that is believed to have healing properties. Colloidal silver is taken orally or inhaled using an atomizer.
Colloidal Silver and HIV
HIV attacks the immune system, which produces antibodies to fight the virus. HIV destroys these T-cells, reducing their numbers until the body is unable to fight even simple infections. Supporters of colloidal silver as a health aid claim that the product reduces the HIV viral load.
Considerations
There is a significant amount of anecdotal evidence to support the efficacy of colloidal silver as a treatment for HIV. FDA laboratory studies concluded that colloidal silver products produced no consistent benefits and were possibly dangerous, as users may develop "argyria," a condition where silver salt deposits form in the eyes and the skin turns ash-gray.
