What Are Some Home Cures for UTI?

What Are Some Home Cures for UTI?

Although both men and women can experience a urinary tract infection (UTI), women experience it more often. A UTI is when you have a burning sensation when you urinate. You will also have the urge to urinate often but only a little comes out. More severe cases of UTI may bring on a fever, chills, lower back pain and sometimes blood in the urine. There are home remedies to treat the symptoms of a UTI. However, if your UTI lasts for more than 2 days, you will need to be treated by a medical professional.

Baking Soda

Baking soda will ease a UTI since it neutralizes the acid in your urine. Add 1 tsp. of baking soda to a glass of water and drink it. This is a very easy and inexpensive home remedy for a UTI.

Blueberries and Cranberries

Everyone knows cranberry juice is good for a kidney infection, but it--as well as blueberries--is also a good UTI treatment because they contain bacteria-inhibiting properties. Not only do they treat a UTI, they can also prevent future ones since blueberries and cranberries come from the same family. You can either sprinkle blueberries or cranberries on your breakfast cereal or drink them in a juice.

Pineapple

Pineapple is a tasty fruit that can help treat a UTI because it contains an enzyme called bromelain, which is a good infection fighter. Eat some pineapple every day to help get rid of a UTI.

Water

Water is probably the best way to treat any kind of infection such as a UTI and a kidney infection. Water flushes out your system and gets rid of the bacteria that causes infections. Drink at least six to eight 8-eight ounce glasses of water per day to make yourself urinate more and flush out the bacteria that causes a UTI.

Vitamin C

Take a vitamin C supplement every day to help get rid of a UTI and to help prevent future infections. Take at least 5,000 mg every day to help fight off infection. This is especially important if you are prone to infection. Vitamin C helps fight off the bacteria that causes a UTI and keeps the bladder healthy.
