Natural Foot Pain Relief

Natural Foot Pain Relief

Foot pain has many causes, including wearing uncomfortable shoes and being on your feet all day. Other causes are heel spurs, bunions, stress fracture, pinched nerves, ankle sprains and an ingrown toenail. Our feet need to be taken care of, but they get beat up a lot because of how much they are used. There are natural ways to get relief for foot pain.

Foods to Eat

Foods you can eat to help keep your fluid levels balanced when you have bloated and uncomfortable feet include bananas and coffee or tea. Bananas are high in potassium, which helps relieve fluid retention, while coffee and tea are both diuretics. Poultry and fresh fish are also good for bloated and uncomfortable feet because they are low in sodium. Yogurt is another good food to eat to treat foot pain because it can reduce histamine-producing bacteria, which causes fluid retention.

Epsom Salts

Epsom salts are good for treating foot pain. You can use Epsom salts in a warm bath and soak your feet in it for at least 15 minutes. Epsom salts can dry your feet out, so use a moisturizer afterward.

Vinegar

Vinegar can soothe tendonitis, sprains, strains and plain old foot aches. Use a hot and cold vinegar wrap for your feet. Alternate between hot and cold vinegar wraps by first heating equal amounts of vinegar and water and mixing them together. Soak a towel in this mixture, wring it out and wrap it around your feet for at least five minutes. Do the same with cold water and vinegar and repeat this process three times with both hot and cold water and vinegar.

Water

To relieve varicose veins in your feet, using plain old water may just do the trick. Water can help relieve the pain and may even slow down the development of varicose veins. To use water as a natural foot pain reliever, dip your feet in hot water for two minutes. Don't make the water too hot or it will burn your feet. Do the same thing with cold water for 15 seconds and alternate between the two for fifteen minutes.

Sage

To use sage as a natural way to relieve foot pain, take a handful of the leaves and rub them in your palm. Rubbing sage leaves in the palm of your hand is called bruising; this releases the curative chemicals from the herb. After rubbing them in your palm, put them in a pan with two-thirds cup of apple cider vinegar. Boil and simmer for at least five minutes. Remove from heat, soak a cloth in it and apply this hot mixture on your feet. Use it as hot as you can handle but not too hot.
