Kombucha Tea Side Effects

Kombucha tea has been touted to help with a number of ailments, including improving the digestive tract and curing thyroid diseases. Although there are many people that claim to have been helped by taking Kombucha tea, there are many documented side effects that can be caused from its consumption.

Cutaneous Anthrax

    Home brewing Kombucha tea has been known to pose the risk of cutaneous anthrax contamination, a type of anthrax that affects the skin, causing swelling and ulcers; it is extremely dangerous.

Aspergillus

    Aspergillus, a fungus that can form in Kombucha tea, can harm people with AIDS or anyone with a weaker than normal immune system.

Lead Poisoning

    Lead poisoning can result from home brewing Kombucha tea in containers that have been glazed using a lead-based glaze.

Allergic Reactions

    People have reported experiencing allergic reactions to Kombucha tea, including vomiting, jaundice and rashes.

Headaches

    Headaches have been reported from continual use of Kombucha tea.
