How to Make an Onion Poultice

Onions have been used for centuries as an herbal remedy for a variety of health issues. Specifically, an onion poultice has been used for treatment of congestion, athlete's foot, warts and other contagious diseases. Through the years onion poultices have been made by grinding dried onion to a fine powder and mixing with oil. Luckily, dried onion is now available at the grocery store already in powder form.

Instructions

    1

Heat olive oil in a small saucepan on medium-low temperature until just hot. Do not allow the oil to boil.

    2

Place the dried onion powder into a small bowl and cover with the heated olive oil.

    3

Stir the olive oil into the onion powder until a thick paste forms.

    4

Spread the paste onto a thin cloth and apply the poultice to the area needed.

    5

Cover the poultice with a bandage or cloth large enough to wrap around the area.
