Active colloidal silver, also known as Sovereign Silver or sovereign silver hydrosol, is sold in the United States as an alternative remedy for a number of ailments, including ear infections and stomach aches. In liquid form, silver sovereign contains tiny silver particles mixed with medicinal water. Most often sold as a liquid in a dropper bottle, it may also be sold as a mouth spray. The best colloidal silver has ten parts per million (PPM) of small silver particles in pure water.
Acne
Sovereign Silver neutralizes enzymes that may increase acne-causing microbes. In the process, harmful bacteria are minimized. Take one teaspoon orally 90 minutes after eating or use the mouth spray five to ten times at a sitting five times per day. Use daily for a week to ten days for best results. Eliminate sugar, refined flour, and greasy foods from the diet to decrease the chance of developing new acne.
First Aid
Because of its healing and antibacterial properties, colloidal silver may prevent infection in cuts and treat insect bites and minor burns. Spray the Sovereign Silver under your tongue and hold for 30 seconds before swallowing to increase absorption. Do this a few times a day until the cut begins to heal.
Immune System
Individuals who suffer from a compromised immune system or intense stress may take one teaspoon of Sovereign Silver three to seven times a day or as instructed by a doctor. Using a fine mist spray 30 times a day or a vertical spray 50 times day will equal one teaspoon dosage.
Sore Throat
For a compromised throat from a cold or fever, use five spray doses of Sovereign Silver three times a day. A teaspoon of liquid colloidal silver can also be used a few times per day for acute symptoms.
Precautions
According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, overuse of colloidal silver causes a permanent discoloring of the skin called argyria. This condition can't be treated and causes discoloration of internal organs as well. Too much Sovereign Silver may cause damage to the kidneys, headaches, and seizures. It should not be used by pregnant or nursing women and may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline and other prescription drugs.
