Natural Ways to Curb Smoking

Natural Ways to Curb Smoking

Deciding to quit smoking is a lot easier said than done, especially if you have been smoking for years. If you have decided that this is what you want to do, but you want natural alternatives, there are some available to you. Make a list of the reasons you want to quit and keep it nearby so you can remind yourself whenever the cravings hit.

St. John's Wort

Take the supplement St. John's Wort. This herb helps relieve depression and increase dopamine, a hormone that makes you happy. When you smoke, dopamine is released; that is one reason so many people get hooked on cigarettes. Supplementing it with this supplement helps give you the same feeling.

Nuts

Eat nuts, such as peanuts or pistachios. Smoking requires you to use both your hands and your mouth, so eating nuts makes you do the same thing. Make sure you get the ones with shells. You will have to crack them open and then eat them. Nuts also have valuable fats that are good for you.

Tea

Drink a cup of green tea whenever you want to smoke. This is time consuming and uses both your hands and mouth. Also, green tea contains caffeine, which gives you that extra boost you may need to get through your day that you typically get from smoking.
