Base oil is used in massage therapy to carry the essential oils that are applied onto your skin. Almond Glow is a line of lotions containing almond oil marketed by Vita Cost. While Almond Glow is not base oil, sweet almond oil is good base oil for massage and aromatherapy.
Carrier Oil
Carrier oil, as the name implies, is used as a method of applying stronger essential oils that you cannot apply directly to the skin. In aromatherapy massage, almond oil is used to carry essential oils such as lavender and eucalyptus. According to Purdue University, aromatic plants are the source of essential oils such as the ones used in massage oil.
Bath Oil
Bath oils use almond or other vegetable oils as a base to carry aromatic essential oils and Epsom salts. India Parenting reports that almond oil softens and moisturizes the skin and soothes irritated or inflamed skin.
Other Uses
Almond oil is useful as moisturizing body oil and as a makeup remover. According to International Aromatherapy and Herb Association, tea tree oil in an almond oil base is a good treatment for dandruff and for cradle cap in infants.
