Candida Diet Information

Candida Diet Information

Candida albicans is a fungus or yeast that resides in everyone's intestines. Some alternative health practitioners believe that stress, unhealthy diets and prolonged use of antibiotics and oral contraceptives may disrupt the balance of good bacteria and cause an overgrowth of candida, known as candidiasis.

Candidiasis Symptoms

According to The Candida Diet, systemic candidiasis may cause joint pains, headaches, fatigue, digestive disturbances, recurrent vaginal or mouth infections, a white coating on the tongue or a "sick all over" kind of feeling that can't be explained by other conditions.

Candida Diet Basics

In order to control candida overgrowth, practitioners suggest eliminating flour, sugar in all forms, fruits and starchy vegetables, alcohol, tea, coffee and chocolate and aged cheeses.

What to Eat

While eliminating certain foods, you may eat unprocessed (preferably organic) meats and fish, eggs, plain yogurt, rice, non-starchy vegetables such as asparagus and broccoli, healthy oils such as olive and coconut, herbal teas and seeds and nuts except for peanuts and pistachios which contain molds.

Benefits

Following the candida cleanse diet for a few weeks and gradually reintroducing fruits and starchy vegetables one at a time may alleviate symptoms associated with candidiasis.
