How to Use Home Remedies to Treat Head Lice

How to Use Home Remedies to Treat Head Lice

Symptoms of head lice include a tickling feeling on the scalp and excessive itching of the scalp when the head lice are biting and crawling around. Head lice comes in three forms; nits, nymphs, and adults. Head lice is more common in children but anyone who comes in direct contact with the person who has head lice can get it. Head lice is highly contagious and can be spread from person to person by coming in direct contact, sharing contaminated combs and brushes, and sharing infested shower caps and towels. Many schools check children for head lice and if a child is found with head lice, they will be sent home and have to remain there until treatment is complete. Head lice can be treated with special shampoos and combs to get rid of the nits, or eggs, but there are other ways a person with head lice can treat it just by using products in their kitchen cabinets and refrigerator.

Instructions

    1

Apply Vaseline to your entire scalp to suffocate the head lice and nits. Vaseline will not be easy to wash out and may take at least 6 washes to properly remove it from your scalp and hair. To make it easier to remove the Vaseline, apply plain flour or corn flour before washing.

    2

Apply mayonnaise to your hair and scalp and let it sit for at least two hours. Rinse your hair and comb through. The mayonnaise will kill the lice and help remove the nits easier. Mayonnaise may not be easy to wash out either and might take a few washes to get it all out.

    3

Take three teaspoons of lemon juice and one tablespoon of butter and mix it together. Apply this mixture to your hair and let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash your hair and comb through if desired. This will kill head lice and it's nits.

    4

Mix some fresh lemon and coconut oil and apply it to your hair. Leave this mixture on for at least two hours and then wash it out of your hair. Fresh lemon oil and coconut oil will kill the head lice and the nits.

    5

Mix together one tablespoon of garlic paste and one tablespoon of lime juice and apply it to your scalp. Leave it set for at least 30 minutes and then wash your head. Garlic paste and lime juice are both good remedies for head lice.

    6

Take eight to ten almonds and crush them to a powder. Mix the powder almonds with two to three teaspoons of lime juice to make a paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. Wash your head after. This will kill lice and nits.
