How to Make a Turmeric Paste for Psoriasis

How to Make a Turmeric Paste for Psoriasis

Psoriasis is an itchy and painful rash. Sufferers often try several remedies without relief. Prescription medicines help, but the side effects can be quite uncomfortable. Natural remedies such as turmeric paste have been proven to work. The chemical properties in turmeric, specifically the curcumin in the herb, are well-suited to psoriasis relief. The herb dries up weeping associated with psoriasis rashes and helps the skin to heal. The paste is also easy to make.

Instructions

    1

Place the turmeric and water in a saucepan to boil. After eight minutes or more, a thick paste will form. Stir constantly to prevent burning. Take the hot paste off the heat to cool. Remove it from the pot and put into a dish that can withstand high heat.

    2

Pour the turmeric paste into a glass jar that has an airtight lid. You may want to place it into a plastic bag, as well, to further prevent leaking, as turmeric does cause permanent staining.

    3

Apply a generous amount of the turmeric paste to the area of skin affected by psoriasis. Do this over a towel or a sink, because, again, turmeric does stain.

    4

Loosely wrap the paste-covered area with gauze. Completely cover the area to prevent the turmeric from staining your clothes and to keep the paste in close proximity to the rash for an extended period of time.

    5

Wear the paste with the gauze as needed for psoriasis flare-ups. Use daily to keep chronic symptoms at bay.
