How to Treat Bed Sores Using Home Remedies

For a person in the hospital or a nursing home, bed sores can be a problem. Bed sores happen when someone is bed ridden and doesnt move around enough. Bed sores mainly occur in people who are paralyzed, handicapped, or disabled. A person who stays in the same position in bed without moving around enough will have ulcer like sores appear on the bony parts of their body. Bed sores are also known as pressure sores because they appear when there is too much pressure on their body from staying in one position too long. Even if someone is paralyzed, disabled, or handicapped, and in a nursing home, they should have help moving around enough to keep pressure off of the body. Unfortunately, bed sores are a common problem in nursing homes because the patients are often neglected and left laying in bed not able to move. There are natural things a person with bed sores can do to heal the sores.

Instructions

    1

Mix milk of magnesia and iodine in a bowl and set the mixture off to the side for a while. After about 30 minutes, apply the milk of magnesia and iodine mixture to the bed sores. Apply the mixture several times a day as needed and after a few days the bed sores will start to heal.

    2

Mix together a little bit of sugar and honey and apply it to the bed sores. Apply the mixture twice a day.

    3

Mix together 2 tbsp. of honey and 1 tbsp. of rhubarb juice or beet juice. You can use a shaker for this mixture or mix it up in a bowl. Using a shaker will mix it up better. You can also add some flour to thicken it up if you think it is too thin. Apply this mixture to the bed sores, cover the wound with a bandage and change it daily.

    4

Clean the area where the bed sores are and then apply some calendula or aloe vera cream. Apply the calendula or aloe vera cream once or twice a day, depending on how bad the bed sores are. The calendula or aloe vera cream will soothe the bed sores and heal them.

    5

Put some Lysol in a spray bottle and spray all over the area of the body where the bed sores are. If the bed sore is infected, the Lysol will kill any germs that might be in the sore and heal the bed sores.
