How to Store EMU Oil

How to Store EMU Oil

Emu oil, which is rendered from the fat of the emu that has been slaughtered for meat, is said to be effective in the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema, acne and psoriasis, preventing hair loss, curing headaches, relieving joint pain, and reducing wrinkles and other signs of aging. Pure emu oil is not stable and needs to be stored under specific conditions.

Instructions

    1

Pour the emu oil into the tinted glass jar or bottle. The dark glass will protect the oil from light, which can spoil the oil. If the oil is solidified, run it under warm water to heat it until it becomes liquid. If the oil is liquid but separated, shake it until it's combined before decanting into the storage jar.

    2

Screw the lid of the jar tightly to protect the oil's purity.

    3

Store in a cool spot, away from directly sunlight. The refrigerator is a good spot to store emu oil for a long time, but the oil will solidify and you will need to soften it to pour. Other sheltered spots might be in the basement or cellar, or in a kitchen cupboard away from the stove and oven.
