    Meet the requirements to enroll in the American Institute of Health Care Professional (AIHCP) American College of Hypnotherapy. You must have either a bachelor's degree in psychology (or a related field), be a registered nurse, licensed social worker or a licensed counselor/psychologist. The American College of Hypnotherapy is the leading hypnotherapy certification organization within the state of Ohio. In order to become a certified hypnotherapist within Ohio you must complete five learning modules, which consists of 230 course study hours. All courses are taught on line through the American College of Hypnotherapy.

    Register by filling out the American College of Hypnotherapy Application for Certification provided by the AIHCP, which is available on line. This application consists of your contact information and education history. You must attach a copy of your official college transcripts as well as a detailed list of all courses you took.

    Register for your first course. Prior to receiving your official certificate you are required to undergo five course modules and pay the individual course fee. Module I ($150 fee as of 2010) covers hypnosis and trance introductions and consists of 50 contact hours. Module II ($150 fee as of 2010) trains you in hypnosis and hypnotherapies effectiveness and teaches advanced skills within its 50 contact hours. Module III ($100 fee as of 2010) consists of 25 contact hours and teaches you the art of self-hypnosis by learning methodology and undergoing first-hand exercises. Module IV ($200 fee as of 2010) offers 80 contact hours and guides you through advanced hypnotherapy techniques and theories. Lastly, Module V ($200 fee as of 2010) is the Hypnotherapy Practicum where you will conduct hypnotherapy sessions that are evaluated by your instructor. This last module consists of 25 contact hours.

    Complete all of the courses to become an official Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist within the state of Ohio. Once you pass all the required course modules you will be sent an official certificate in the mail. You must re-register your certification every three years through the American College of Hypnotherapy.
