How to Lower LDL Cholesterol With Natural Methods

The fatty, waxy steroid that strengthens the cellular walls of every cell in your body is called cholesterol. Your body needs cholesterol to maintain proper cell growth and structure. There are two kinds of cholesterol: bad cholesterol (low density lipoprotein, or LDL) and good cholesterol (high density lipoprotein, or HDL). LDL travels from the liver to the inner walls of your heart, causing myocardial infarction (heart attack). The more LDL you have, the higher your risk of a heart attack. You can lower LDL naturally by eating certain types or foods.

Instructions

    1

Eat garlic. This common herb contains the substance allicin, which significantly lowers LDL. Add garlic to your dishes and consume every day.

    2

Drink pomegranate juice. This exotic fruit is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, which reduce LDL. Drink 3 glasses of pomegranate juice daily, preferably before eating.

    3

Eat yogurt. This healthy dairy product contains millions of live bacteria called lactobacilli, which aid and maintain your digestive system. Lactobacilli balances your cholesterol levels by preventing your blood from reabsorbing cholesterol. Eat 1 cup of yogurt every day.

    4

Eat blueberries. This common tiny fruit contains pterostilbene, a compound that reduces LDL. Eat a cup of blueberries every day.

    5

Consume foods rich in soluble fiber. LDL is prevented from circulating in the blood when fiber is digested. Fiber also eliminates LDL through excretion. Foods rich in soluble fiber include pears, beans, apples and prunes. Eat these types of food daily.
