How to Cure a Sore Throat Without the Use of Medicine

Mild throat pain can usually be treated at home without the assistance of a doctor or medical professional. Sore throat pain can be uncomfortable and miserable, especially for young children. Several over-the-counter medications are formulated to soothe sore throat pain, but many of these products may contain harmful ingredients. Alternative methods can be used to help cure a sore throat. Natural remedies tend to work as well as medication when it comes to eliminating the itchy, burning feeling of a sore throat.

Instructions

    1

To rest your throat, don't talk unless absolutely necessary, and get lots of rest so that your body can fight off the sickness.

    2

Use apple cider vinegar. Fill a 6 to 8 ounce cup with water and add 1 to 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar (make the vinegar as strong as you can stand it). Gargle the water/vinegar mixture twice and swallow each time. The acidic properties in the apple cider vinegar will naturally kill the bacteria that is causing your sore throat pain. Make sure you rinse your mouth well with water afterward in order to rinse out the excess vinegar, because it may harm your teeth.

    3

Try chamomile tea. Combine a cup of hot water and 1 to 2 teaspoons of chamomile blossoms. Sip the tea slowly, drinking one cup every couple of hours. The chamomile will soothe your throat.

    4

Create a mixture of honey and apple cider vinegar. Mix 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey. Take a teaspoon of the honey/vinegar combination every four hours for 1 to 2 days or until the sore throat pain subsides.

    5

Gargle the juice of a lemon mixed with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 cup of water. This sour concoction should be gargled three to four times a day and it will fight the itchy, aching feeling in your throat.

    6

Pomegranate is one more natural ingredient that works to fight off sore throat pain. The pomegranate contains astringents that fight bacterial infections. Boil pomegranate rinds to turn them into a tasty tea that will assist in curing a sore throat.

    7

If the aforementioned remedies do not cure your sore throat, it is important to seek the help of a professional doctor for further treatment.
