Remedies for Sore Throats & Earaches

Sore throats and earaches can often follow any allergy or cold cycle. Many times this is not a serious enough situation to visit the family doctor, if you know a few home remedies to treat them. Homeopathic medication is being taken much more seriously as antibiotics have been overused and are no longer as effective as they once were.

Earache Home Remedies

Earaches can be caused by many different things, from allergies to colds and bacteria in swimming water to tooth issues. Many herbal teas offer some of the best ways to relieve congestion that causes pain in the ear. There are also several oils that can be warmed and poured into the ear canal. Garlic oil is a natural antibiotic and will relieve the pain and help reduce any infection that may be present. Almond oil or olive oil gently warmed and poured into the ear then plugged in the ear with a cotton ball will relieve and prevent an earache.

Lemon juice and onion juice, when applied to a cotton ball then placed into the ear, will stop infection immediately. This relieves pain and swelling efficiently and simply.

Sore Throat Home Remedies

Getting a sore throat, like an earache, is often from the same sources, colds and allergies. The treatments for a sore throat almost all include gargling. A few ways to relieve a sore throat are dissolving a teaspoon of salt in warm water and gargling with it, or mixing one teaspoon vinegar with warm water to use as a gargle.

Thyme tea makes an effective gargle that should be consumed to relieve sore throats. Make sure to enjoy it warm.

A mix of lemon juice and honey heated until hot and consumed before bedtime will help with sore throats. Honey is a natural antibiotic and will help reduce any infection that may be present in the throat.

Choosing a remedy

Choosing the correct home remedy for sore throats and earaches requires a little research to ensure that you have the correct treatment for the symptoms. Take into account any allergies of the person who is suffering and steer away from those. If the treatment does not take affect properly, or if the condition worsens, it may be time to contact a doctor.
