Home Remedy for Bloating

Bloating occurs when too much gas formulates in the stomach. The stomach feels full and heavy, and gives a general feeling of uneasiness and discomfort. Bloating normally occurs because of diet issues. Foods that are fried and carbonated drinks tend to cause bloating, as well as gulping in air while eating too fast. For immediate relief , there are home remedies that help reduce bloating and relieve abdominal pressure.

Bay Leaves

A simple bay leaf in a cup of boiling water will provide immediate bloating relief. Let the mixture sit for at least five minutes, then consume the entire cup in one setting. Do not lie down for at least an hour after drinking the mixture, as the gas will come out quicker in an upright position.

Chamomile

Chamomile has been used for centuries as an aid to several types of ailments such as stomach flu, ulcers, menstrual cramps, bites, stings and bloating. The tea works to help bloating by relaxing the body and soothing gastrointestinal issues. Most chamomile tea can be found at local grocery store stores or nutrition shops. Simply follow the directions on the back of the box. For best results in reducing bloating and gas, drink one cup in the morning and another just before going to bed.

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea helps relax body muscles, which in turn allows the body to get rid of digestive gas that causes bloating. Peppermint tea also helps with irritable bowel syndrome, headaches, colds and skin irritation. For bloating, soak 1 tsp. of dried peppermint leaves in a cup of boiling water. Let the leaves boil for 10 minutes and then strain. Drink a glass of the tea at least four to five times daily, preferably before meals. Peppermint is safe in large quantities.
