It is hard for a woman to look and feel her best when she has puffy, swollen eyelids and bags under her eyes. Before you write yourself off as past your prime, though, remember that many factors cause swelling. While aging is one factor, other causes can create puffy eyes in a woman of any age. Allergies, diet, inadequate sleep, dehydration and even high blood pressure can cause puffy skin around the eyes. A few simple home remedies can help battle the problem, and get you feeling refreshed and lovely again.
Instructions
- 1
Wash your face each morning using water that is as cold as you can stand it. Cold helps to shrink the membranes that cause swelling.
2Place two metal spoons in the refrigerator in the morning to chill them for later use.
3Cut a raw potato in half with the knife and then cut two thin slices from the middle, juiciest part of the potato. Make sure each slice is large enough to cover your closed eye from below your eyebrow to the top of your cheekbone.
4Retrieve the chilled spoons from the refrigerator and take them, along with the potato slices, to a comfortable chair when you can rest with your head supported when tilted back.
5Place the backs of the chilled spoons over your closed eyelids and press very gently. The cold will help to reduce swelling. Hold them in place for 10 minutes.
6Lay a slice of potato over each closed eye and tilt your head back so the slices will not slip off. Relax and let them soak into your skin for 10 minutes. The alkaloids in the potato will help to remove inflammation and redness.
7Wash your face before bedtime, again using water that is as cold as you can stand it. Pat your face dry with a towel and then apply moisturizing eye cream that contains soothing aloe.
