How to Build a Cayce Wet Cell

Edgar Cayce was a 20th century man who allegedly had powers of clairvoyance which he demonstrated during sleep-like trances. During these trances he also gave detailed instructions on how to build certain devices, among them what is now known as an Edgar Cayce wet cell battery. This battery consisted of two metallic rods, one copper and the other nickel, placed in an electrolytic solution inside a two-gallon container. Dudley Delaney, nurse and chiropractor, believes that using this battery can treat or cure ailments such as arthritis or multiple sclerosis, chiefly by instilling energy into a person's body.

Don safety glasses and gloves. The electrolytic solution, in its final form, is not terribly dangerous but the sulfuric acid used in the mixture is caustic in its pure form.

Prepare a table top and place all the components atop it. This work space should be near a working tap or faucet in case your skin accidentally comes into contact with the acid.

Sand the copper and nickel rods until they are bright and very clean. Their ability to conduct current will be impaired by any sort of corrosion or uncleanness. You will probably have to repeat this step every month to clean off corrosion that has accumulated in the electrolytic solution.

Attach the red battery terminal to one end of the copper rod. Attach the black battery terminal to one end of the nickel rod. The copper rod's terminal is for the positive charge and the nickel rod's is for the negative charge.

Fasten the copper and nickel rods to the lid of the 2-gallon container, keeping the rods separate from each other and from the sides of the container. The terminals at the end of each rod should be pointing down into the solution once the lid is in put in place.

Pour 1.5 gallons of distilled water into the open container. Follow this with 2 lbs. of copper sulfate, 6 oz. of sulfuric acid, 10.6 grams of zinc and 1/2 lb. of willow charcoal. Add them in that order.

Stir this compound with a wooden stick until it is thoroughly mixed. Place the lid on the container.
