How to Dispose of Black Salve

Black salve is a skin ointment that is applied directly to the skin, and it has been touted as a cure for cancer, skin tags and other skin conditions. Black salve is made of roots, oils and herbs, and it is corrosive in nature. This means that it essentially burns off your skin in an attempt to kill the condition. If you have black salve that you want to get rid of, it's important to carefully read the ingredient list and dispose of it properly.

Instructions

    1

Read the list of ingredients in your black salve. While natural black salve only contains herbs and natural oils, some black salves might contain heavy metals or materials considered hazardous waste. Make sure to read the entire label and follow and special disposal instructions listed on your black salve.

    2

Put on a pair of gloves and wrap the black salve in a plastic bag. It's important that you protect your skin, since black salve is corrosive.

    3

Take the black salve to your local hazardous waste disposal center. Contact your city or county department of waste management to find out where your local facilities are. Take the black salve there and explain what it is to the people manning the site. While the salve isn't a harm to the environment unless it has certain properties, it is corrosive and shouldn't be just thrown in the trash where it might affect people who have to dispose of the garbage.
