Cures for Scalp Psoriasis

Psoriasis of the scalp is a condition that clears up by itself with time. For some people, however, waiting it out is not an option. Aside from commercial products that are available, there are also a number of natural cures that may be used to treat this condition.

Vinegar

The Psoriasis Foundation reports that vinegar has been successfully used in the treatment of scalp psoriasis. It has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that target infection and inflammation of psoriasis lesions.

Coal Tar

The National Psoriasis Foundation recommends tar---in particular coal tar---as a cure for scalp psoriasis. Tar helps hinder the rapid proliferation of scalp skin cells, while reducing the itching and inflammation associated with this condition.

Sunshine

According to Dr. Laurence Miller, who is a member of the Medical Advisory Board of National Psoriasis Foundation, exposure to sunshine helps to clear scalp psoriasis. He recommends the use of suncreen to minimize cancer risk.

Calendula

According to The Herb Companion, calendula essential oil contains active ingredients that help treat scalp psoriasis and relieve its symptoms.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk, applied directly to the scalp, has traditionally been used as a soothing treatment of scalp psoriasis.
