How to Mix Mineral Oil

Mineral oil mixtures are used to relieve constipation by stimulating the colon. A mineral oil mixture can be taken orally or used in an enema bag. Store bought products are expensive which can be an issue if you need to use them regularly. If you are suffering from digestive issues and constipation, making your own mixtures can save you money. Always consult your doctor prior to using mineral oil mixtures orally or through an enema. Long-term use of mineral oil can lead to a vitamin deficiency and should never be used for more than seven days in a row without doctor's supervision.

Instructions

Oral Mixture

    1

Wait two hours after a meal to mix and consume mineral oil. This allows ample time for your stomach to absorb the nutrients from your meal. It is best to consume mineral oil before bedtime.

    2

Measure the correct dosage of mineral oil in a measuring spoon. The dosage for adults is 15 to 45 ml orally per day. Pour mineral oil into cup of tea. Stir.

    3

Drink the mineral oil/tea mixture as quickly as possible. Follow with 8 oz. of water.

Enema Mixture

    4

Measure 2 cups of mineral oil and pour into a microwave-safe bowl.

    5

Measure 6 cups of water and add to the mineral oil.

    6

Microwave the mixture until it is 102 degrees.

    7

    Pour in enema bag.
