Bath Salt Directions

The earliest use of bath salts dates back to the 4th century B.C. when the Greek physician Hippocrates promoted the use of salt water to treat various health ailments. Some of the beneficial minerals in bath salts include magnesium, potassium, sodium and calcium. Magnesium relaxes sore muscles, calcium maintains healthy bones, potassium balances the skin's moisture levels and sodium helps regulate lymphatic fluid and draws out toxins. MayoClinic.com recommends bath salts to treat the skin condition, psoriasis. You can purchase bath salts in a wide variety of scents that are often infused with essential oils and herbs, or plain and unscented.
