How to Soothe Cold Symptoms

How to Soothe Cold Symptoms

Common cold symptoms can range from mild to severe. The mild symptoms can be annoying, but the severe symptoms can be debilitating. There are several ways to soothe the symptoms of the common cold, and to speed up the recovery time.

Instructions

    1

Heat enough water on the stove to fill the medium size bowl. Put the water and the lemon slices into the bowl. Place a towel over your head to create a small tent around you and the bowl. Inhale the vapors from the steam to relieve sinus congestion.

    2

Drink hot liquids to help soothe congestion in your chest and sinuses. Warm lemon or lime water helps to remove the toxins in your body and it jump-starts your liver to move harmful bacteria out of your body.

    3

Use a heating pad to soothe aching muscles or sore body parts like your back and chest. Alternate the heating pad on and off in 30 minute intervals. Apply a camphor based salve to your nose to soothe raw skin and chapped lips.

    4

Take a hot bath or shower and sprinkle 5 to 10 drops of lavender and eucalyptus essential oils in the bath or on the shower floor to help relieve sinus pressure. These oils also aid relaxation.

    5

Mix a pinch of sea salt or Celtic sea salt and warm water to make your own saline, nasal spray. Store the solution in a spray applicator bottle and use as needed for relief.
