How to Extract Oil From Lemons

Extracting your own lemon oil solution will not only benefit you in the kitchen but can also have a profound effect on your health. According to the herbs2000 website, various types of digestive problems, anxiety, respiratory infections, high blood pressure and soreness of the throat can be treated using lemon oil. Lemon oil helps in the formation of leukocytes or white blood cells, which aid the body in fighting infectious diseases. Lemon oil has also been found to strengthen nails, effectively cleanse skin and boost memory function.

Instructions

    1

Peel off the outside layer of the lemon using the citrus zester. Place the lemon peel into a clean glass jar.

    2

Pour extra virgin olive oil into the jar until the lemon peel is completely covered. Put the lid on the jar and close it tightly.

    3

Place the jar onto a sunny window seal and allow it to sit for two to three weeks. Mix the solution daily by picking up the jar and shaking it.

    4

Remove the jar from the window seal once the waiting time is over. Open the jar and strain the oil solution into a clean glass jar using the muslin bag. Discard the lemon peel. You may now use your lemon oil in cooking, cleaning or medicinal purposes.
