How to Fully Dissolve Baking Soda

Also known as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda has a variety of uses, from treating an upset stomach to soothing heartburn. Drinking dissolved baking soda in water neutralizes acidity in the stomach, caused by a number of different foods and beverages, such as tomatoes, chocolate, citrus, alcohol and carbonated drinks. Lifestyle choices, such as smoking or taking aspirin, can also cause increase stomach acidity.

Instructions

    1

Pour a minimum of 1/2 cup room temperature water into a drinking glass. Set the glass aside.

    2

Measure 1/2 tsp. of baking soda. Add the baking soda into the glass of water.

    3

Stir the water and baking soda mixture with a spoon until the granules are completely dissolved. Baking soda is soluble in water at .274 oz. of baking soda to 3.5 oz. of water at 64 degrees Fahrenheit.

    4

Drink the solution to help with stomach acidity. Repeat the process every two hours, without exceeding 3-1/2 tsp. in a 24-hour period because of the high levels of sodium contained in baking soda.
