How to Use Primrose Oil to Treat Acne

How to Use Primrose Oil to Treat Acne

Many factors can cause acne, such as stress, pregnancy, hormonal changes and diet. Adolescents are particularly prone to suffer from acne as their bodies change. Primrose oil can either be consumed or applied topically to help treat the condition.

Instructions

    1

Use primrose oil to combat acne. You can use it consistently to maintain good skin or only during occasional outbreaks, such as those associated with menstruation or stress.

    2

Consider making a topical formula on your own. The diced or ground leaves can be combined with petroleum jelly to treat acne topically. Keep the formual tightly covered and refrigerate to maintain effectiveness.

    3

Buy tablets or capsules in pharmacies, health food stores and major supermarkets. Pay special attention to the expiration date. Primrose oil will degenerate over time and effectiveness will suffer.

    4

Wait patiently. Primrose oil is a mild, natural alternative and many people do not notice immediate results. You must use it for at least 2 weeks to see any improvement, which will increase with regular use.

    5

Use primrose oil to treat other skin inflammations. Eczema, ruddiness, dry or sensitive skin can also be soothed with the use of primrose oil.

    6

Start gradually. Initially, it's recommended that people with sensitive skin follow a minimal use of primrose oil until the body adjusts to it. This is true with both topical and ingested formulas.
