How to Treat Acne With Oatmeal

How to Treat Acne With Oatmeal

The use of oatmeal masks and oatmeal-based products to treat acne has become popular in recent years. You can use colloidal oatmeal, which is simply rolled oats that have been milled into a fine powder, as a facial scrub. Or, you can cook up some oatmeal and apply it directly to your face.

Instructions

    1

Prepare bulk amounts of colloidal oatmeal by grinding rolled oats into a fine powder, using a coffee mill or grinder. Dissolve the colloidal oatmeal in lukewarm water, and apply the solution liberally to all affected areas. Gently pat your skin dry with a soft, absorbent towel, taking care not to rub and further irritate your skin.

    2

Cook up a batch of oatmeal to treat your acne, following the instructions on the package. Allow the oatmeal to cool a bit, to the point where it is lukewarm, and apply it as a mask to your face. Allow the oatmeal to dry until it becomes slightly crusty on the surface, and then wash off the mask with more lukewarm water.

    3

Use oatmeal as a facial scrub to treat your acne. Simply mix uncooked oatmeal with enough warm water until it becomes damp, but not completely soaked. Smooth the oatmeal over your face and scrub with a soft washcloth the same way as you would with any other facial cleanser.

    4

Treat your acne with oatmeal as part of a comprehensive skin program that uses natural remedies to achieve results. You should drink at least 8 to 10 8 oz. glasses of distilled water every day, and eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables as well. This will help rid and detoxify your body of the bacteria that cause acne.

    5

Repeat the oatmeal mask and cleansing procedures at least twice a day in order to treat your acne effectively. Eating an additional bowl of oatmeal in the morning certainly can't hurt, either.
