How to Use Eucalyptus for Inflammation

How to Use Eucalyptus for Inflammation

Eucalyptus is an extremely versatile natural medicine, used to treat infections, soothe a cough, heal bacterial and viral infections, to repel insects and more. Eucalyptus also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it the perfect ingredient for home remedies to treat aches and pains, arthritis and more.

Instructions

    1

Create a healing eucalyptus oil which can be used for a variety of inflammatory conditions. Add 15 drops of eucalyptus essential oil for every 2 cups of extra-virgin, cold pressed olive oil. Store your mixture in a cool dark place to protect the healing qualities of your oils.

    2

Help to soothe bronchitis, the inflammation of the airways in the lungs, by rubbing your eucalyptus oil mixture on your chest whenever needed. This remedy is particularly helpful at night to help soothe a cough and improve breathing for a good night's sleep.

    3

Use your eucalyptus oil solution to help soothe the painful inflammation of arthritis. For everyday use, massage your mixture into painful joints whenever needed. For deeper treatment, apply a bit of full-strength eucalyptus essential oil to the area and massage gently until you feel a soothing warmth in the skin. While the occasional use of full-strength oil does not cause skin irritation in most people, it should not be applied undiluted more than once or twice a week.

    4

Massage sore, tired muscles to help reduce inflammation anytime with your diluted oil. Eucalyptus oil massage is particularly helpful before and after exercise, as it helps to increase blood circulation and warm up tissues to help get your ready for your workout and reduce stiffness and pain afterwards.

    5

Treat inflammation due to skin conditions, chicken pox, bug bites, wounds and more by simply massaging your oil mixture into affected areas two or three times daily.
