Ways to Spark New Frontal Hair Growth

According to the Mayo Clinic, hair loss affects one-third of men and women. It can be troubling; however, options do exist. To spark new frontal hair growth, you could try several easy remedies. In addition, you might benefit from aromatherapy or even over-the-counter and prescription medications.

Natural Remedies

Consider trying some basic home remedies to spark hair growth and prevent future loss. Use a mild shampoo, such as a baby shampoo, and only wash your hair every other day. After bathing, allow your hair to air dry and rub your scalp gently with a towel. If you have to blow dry your hair, keep the blow dryer on its lowest setting. Avoid combing or brushing your hair when it's wet, as this could cause it stretch and break.

Make sure you're getting enough protein, as it's needed by every cell in your body, including those that work to regrow and make hair. Iron deficiency can also contribute to hair loss, so make sure your diet includes plenty of iron-rich foods. If you can't get enough iron from diet alone, consider taking an iron supplement. To help prevent further hair loss, take 100mg of Vitamin B6 a day. Don't take more than that, though, without first discussing it with your doctor. High amounts of Vitamin B6 can be toxic.

Aromatherapy and essential oils might also spark new hair growth. After washing your hair, add one drop of rosemary essential oil to a cold water rinse on the affected area. Rub thoroughly. There's no need to rinse, and rosemary will give your hair a nice shine, too. Valerie Ann Worwood, author of the "The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy," says that the cold water also stimulates blood capillaries, which helps move nutrients to the affected area.

Medications

Along with aromatherapy and home remedies, medications could also spark new hair growth. For men struggling with male-pattern baldness, the medication Propecia may be helpful. According to the Mayo Clinic, this medication is taken daily in pill form, and hair growth and reduction of hair loss could take several months. Women should not use or even handle this product, though, as it could cause birth defects in male fetuses.

The non-prescription medication Rogaine is also indicated for the treatment of hair loss. Rub this liquid or foam on to the affected area twice daily to encourage new growth and prevent future hair loss.
