Herbal & Homeopathic Remedies for Essential Tremors

Essential tremors are a condition characterized by uncontrolled trembling typically in the hands; this can interfere with your ability to function on a daily basis. Essential tremors and Parkinson's disease are two different things, and essential tremors generally occur in adults that are older. Tremor severity evolves over time; tremors are intensified during movement, may affect one or both of your hands, and are aggravated by environmental factors and stress. There are, however, herbal and homeopathic remedies for the condition.

Essential Tremor Symptoms

In Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Phyllis A. Balch M.D., a certified nutritional consultant, explains some of the symptoms associated with essential tremors, and the author further explains how essential tremors differ from Parkinson's disease. Essential tremors affect both of your hands, and the tremors are less severe during periods of rest. Parkinson's disease involves tremors that are equally severe while at rest and during activities. When it comes to essential tremors, the act of attempting to suppress them by force of your will aggravates the condition further.

Gambir

In Chinese Traditional Herbal Medicine: Materia Medica and Herbal Resource, author Lesley Tierra explains that Gambir is an herb ideal for treating convulsions and tremors. Gambir is beneficial for the heart, the liver and the pericardium. The herb works as a blood tonifier as well as an antispasmodic agent. Adults can consume a daily dosage of Gambir at 3 g to 10 g. If consuming Gambir in powder form, 0.9 g to 1.5 g daily is all that is required to gain the herb's antispasmodic effects.

Lady's Slipper

In Planetary Herbology, Michael Tierra explains that Lady's Slipper is an antispasmodic herb appropriate for the treatment of tremors. Lady's Slipper is commonly used to treat epilepsy, tremors, restlessness and the herb is a naturally calming herb. A decoction of the herb can be consumed at a dosage of 3 g to 9 g brewed in a tea 3 to 4 times daily. Lady Slipper tincture can also be consumed at a dosage of 10 to 30 drops 3 to 4 times a day for tremor relief.

Arnica

In Medical Botany: Plants Effecting Human Health, authors Robert Eglesfelde Griffith and Memory P. F. Elvin-Lewis assert that Arnica is a traditional homeopathic remedy for palsy and tremors. Arnica, when consumed, has positive effects on your nervous system. The treatment is generally offered as an infusion by diluting the treatment in water. Arnica can be consumed by mixing 3 pellets of Arnica 30c in 500 milliliters of water in a bottle. Before consumption, the bottle must be shaken, and the mixture is sipped. A teaspoon of the mixture is consumed 3 times a day for tremor relief.

Argentum nitricum

In Prescription for Natural Cures, authors James Balch and Mark Stengler assert that Argentum nitricum is a homeopathic treatment for hand tremors when writing and for treating conditions involving uncoordinated movements. Argentum nitricum 30c can be consumed in pill form which can be chewed one time daily. You should continue to use this remedy for a period of thirty days to gain maximum benefit.
