Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is caused by a compression of the median nerve that passes through the carpal tunnel in the wrist. Along with intense pain, patients experience lack of hand strength, numbness in the hands and fingers, and impaired hand coordination. Diet for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

    Reduce your intake of caffeine, soda pop, and liquor. These agents promote high acidity, rob the body of water and also inhibit proper production of magnesium. If you have CTS, your diet should be rich in foods such as fish, whole grains, hormone-free meat, brown rice and sea greens.

    Drink a 10-ounce glass of lemon juice with breakfast and between lunch and dinner. Add 1 tbs of brewer's yeast. Brewer's yeast is rich in vitamins and minerals and contains high amounts in folic acid, potassium, thiamin, niacin and chromium.

    Drink a 12-ounce glass of carrot juice with lunch. Carrot juice contains beta carotene, which helps the body produce vitamin A, which is a powerful antioxidant and helps heal damaged and weak tissue. If you do not like the taste of pure carrot juice, squeeze in half a lemon or add pure apple juice to the mix.

    Eat 4 to 6 ounces of raw celery between lunch and dinner. Celery is a wonderful way to balance the salts in your body. It also helps clear your joints of uric acid, which will help subside any swelling as your body rids itself of excess fluid. Celery also promotes healthy blood flow, which is important in treating to CTS.

Body Care and Exercise

    Stretch your muscles and joints for 10 minutes each morning and before retiring for the evening. Stretching promotes healthy blood flow and breathing. It will also help your body stay loose and prevent any energy blocks in your system.

    Perform a CTS stretch at least twice a day. To do so, sand with your arms at your side. Lift your arm up to shoulder level and spread your fingers, pointing them to the floor. Make a fist. Turn your head slowly towards your fist and bring your fist to your face, as though you are "making a muscle." Hold for 3 seconds. Rest for one minute, gently massaging your hand. Repeat with each affected hand 3 to 5 times.
