Home Remedies for Yeast Infections Under the Breasts

Candidiasis is caused by candida, a yeast-like fungus. Candidiasis can occur in your mouth, in a female's vagina, in your stomach and gastrointestinal tract, or it can occur on the skin, under your breasts, and under skin folds. If you have a compromised immune system, you are more prone to developing the condition. Taking a course of antibiotics may cause the onset of candida. Symptoms include white patches on your tongue, sores on the corner of your mouth, skin blisters and rashes, and vaginal irritation. There are some herbal remedies that can help you alleviate the condition.

Diagnosis

Visit your doctor to determine if you have candidasis. Your doctor may test your stools to see if candida is present in your system, or the doctor may conduct a blood test to test for its presence. Your doctor will also examine affected skin areas to determine if you have an overgrowth of the fungus. Prescription antibiotics or an antifungal medication are the usual treatments for candida overgrowth. Some medications can be consumed orally, and you may need an antifungal cream that can be used topically to treat candida that has infected your breast tissues.

Pau d'Arco

Pau d'arco is an herb that has natural antifungal properties. This herb contains lapachol, a form of napththoquinone capable of destroying fungi. It is used to treat candidiasis, herpes, influenza, and schistosomiasis as well as bacterial infections. This herb is not recommended for use in children. Take 300 to 500 mg pau d' arco capsules three times a day to treat candida infections. Possible side effects include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and anemia. Pregnant and nursing females should not use pau d'arco. This herb may interfere with blood thinners such as aspirin, clopidogrel, and warfarin.

Garlic

Garlic is an herb with natural antifungal agents and contains allicin to help defend your body against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Children should not take this herb as a remedy. Consume 2 to 4 g of garlic daily; take two to four cloves of minced garlic. If you do not care for the flavor of garlic, consume 200-mg garlic tablets three times a day for candida defense.

Garlic may interfere or interact with some medications including indomethacin, Plavix, aspirin, diphyridamole, and other antiplatelet medications. Garlic can interact with warafin and protease inhibitors like ritinavir, squinavir, and indinavir as well. Eating fresh garlic can cause halitosis.

Pomegranate

Pomegranate is an herb that is beneficial for oral thrush and candida infections. The herb has antioxidants that destroy free radicals in the body, and it has antiviral and antibacterial properties. Pomegranate contains anthocyanins and hydrolysable tannins, as well as polyphenols that offer antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents. Consume 50 ml of pomegranate juice a day to derive its antiviral and antibacterial properties, or take two 500 mg pomegranate capsules daily. Pomegranate consumption may interact or interfere with ace inhibitors, blood pressure medications, and statins.
