How to Use Primrose Oil to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots

How to Use Primrose Oil to Reduce Risk of Blood Clots

Primrose oil often is used to treat eczema, but it may also treat other conditions, such as blood clots. Blood clot symptoms can include pain and swelling. However, many sufferers present no symptoms at all, which can be very dangerous.

Instructions

    1

Use primrose oil to reduce blood clots and bad cholesterol. Primrose oil is available in tablet, liquid and capsule forms at health food stores, pharmacies and some supermarkets.

    2

Unclog your arteries. Primrose oil contains 9 percent gamma linolenic acid, which is converted in the body to dihomo gamma linolenic acid and then to prostaglandin E1. Prostaglandin E1 breaks up blood clots and dilates blood vessels without the negative side effects of aspirin.

    3

Lower your blood pressure. High blood pressure results from both genetic and lifestyle factors. If you have high blood pressure, the added strain on your heart can cause blood clots. Use primrose oil to get your blood pressure back to a healthy level, since gamma linolenic acid may dilate the blood vessels.

    4

Be patient. The effects of primrose oil that have been measured in studies indicate that it will take at least several weeks for it to reduce your risk of blood clots after regular use.

    5

Avoid taking too much primrose oil when using general formulas. This can throw your body off balance, which won't reduce the risk of blood clots. Choose formulas that are geared toward heart health.
